Chuck Hope, Jr., P.E.
Principal Engineer

Continuing a tradition of Hope family architects and engineers, Chuck founded the firm in 1993 and brings a wide variety of structural engineering experience to the table. He has managed projects ranging from pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities to Fortune 500 corporate headquarters. A graduate of San Diego State University, Chuck earned his BS in Civil Engineering in 1983. He is a licensed professional engineer in the state of California.



Jim Amundson, S.E.
Principal Engineer

Jim brings over 27 years of structural engineering experience to Hope Engineering, joining the firm in 1999. He has served as the Principal Engineer for a number of complex, multi-million dollar projects in healthcare, education, commercial, mixed-use and retail markets. A graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Jim earned his BS in Architectural Engineering in 1982. He is a licensed professional engineer in the states of California, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Oregon.


David McMaster, S.E.
Vice President

With over 27 years of professional engineering experience including structural design and project management, Dave’s specific materials experience includes steel, concrete, masonry and wood, applied on a wide range of institutional and educational, industrial, medical, commercial and civic facilities. A graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Dave earned his BS in Architectural Engineering in 1982. He is a licensed professional engineer in the states of California, Arizona and Nevada.




Bradley Lowe, S.E
Vice President

Brad brings over 27 years of professional structural engineering design and project management experience to the firm. Brad’s extensive experience includes the design of parking structures, commercial and institutional facilities; forensic investigations and rehabilitation of existing buildings. A graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Brad earned his BS in Architectural Engineering in 1982. He is a licensed professional engineer in the states of California, Arizona and Nevada.




Michael West, S.E.
Vice President

Mike brings over 28 years of professional structural engineering design and project management experience to the firm. He has served as the Managing Engineer for a number of complex projects in the specialty, education, commercial and healthcare markets. Among his qualifications are zoological exhibits, hospitals and research facilities, seismic retrofits and soil retention (permanent and temporary shoring systems). A graduate of San Jose State University, Mike received his BS in Civil Engineering in 1981. He is a licensed professional engineer in the states of California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Wyoming, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Texas.
